1. Buying New Clothes Laurie and Melissa are in a clothing store. M = Melissa L = Laurie M: How about this one? L: (Shakes her head) It's kind of drab. Does it come in any other colors? M: I don't think so. L: Next. (Melissa gives her an annoyed look.) What? M: You've rejected every single one of my choices since we got here. L: Is this about the jacket? Look, it's fine for the office, but I want you to look better than just "fine" for your big date. M: I know. L: This is a cool sweater. M: Ick, cashmere. No wonder it's so expensive. (Eyes another dress) Laurie, check this dress out. L: Nice find. Quick, try it on!
2. Doing Laundry Laurie is reading in her room. M: Ah! Laurie! (Laurie enters; Melissa holds up her new dress.) L: Your new dress! It's so tiny! What happened? M: Beats me. I washed it like normal. Tonight's my big date, too! L: This dress has to be dry-cleaned. Wool can shrink in the washing machine. M: Where were you an hour ago?! Ugh, I'm in no mood to go out now! L: Can you cancel? (Looks inside the washing machine) Wait. You washed your whites and colors together? M: Hmm, yeah. I should cancel. L: You should separate white and dark clothes because the clothing dye can bleed on to your whites. And check the tag for the dry-clean-only symbol. M: Again, this would have been great to know an hour ago!
